Using Keys, How Do You Open A Beer Bottle?

Step 1

Close to the cap, grasp the beer bottle by the neck. Make sure to hold the bottle firmly and to prevent your hand from slipping due to condensation. Hold the bottle in your left hand if you are a right-handed person.

Step 2

Place the key, teeth side out, between the bottle cap and the largest, lowest portion of your index finger while holding it in your right hand. You might need to reposition your left hand’s grip on the bottleneck—either higher or lower—to account for this.

Step 3

With your right hand, push the head of the key down using your finger as a fulcrum so the length of the key engaged with the bottle cap puts pressure on the cap and eventually causes it to pop off the bottle. Instead of making one quick effort, apply slow, steady pressure.

Other Things Can Be Used To Open A Beer Bottle

1. Another Beer

More times than we can count, we have witnessed this. And even though it seems like an old wives’ tale, it actually works. Just a little finessing is needed: Holding them firmly and steadily, turn one bottle upside down and remove the cap from the other bottle using the ridge on its cap.

2. Metal Spoon Or Fork

Simply tuck a spoon or fork prong’s edge under the cap and lift it until the bottle opens. You could also simply pry it off using the handle.

3. Countertop

Or a brick, or another surface with a clearly defined edge. Put your hand or another hard object on the counter’s lip and tap it downward against the cap to cause it to lift off.

4. Ring

Your ring finger should be tucked underneath the cap as you hold the bottle in your hand. Tilt the bottle to a 45-degree angle, then grasp the top and pull back. The best course of action for this one might be to stick with robust titanium or gold bands. Who wants to ruin a priceless silver ring just to chug a brewski, after all? Oh right, all of us.

5. Belt Buckle

You must remove your belt to do this, but the extra effort is totally worthwhile when drinking. Your thumb should be used to press down on the opposite side of the cap as you place the buckle’s edge under the cap.

6. Scissors

Actually, there are two strategies at play. The first involves removing the cap by placing it between the two blades and lifting it until it pops off. The second is removing each ridge from the crown until it releases.

7. Lighter

Hold the bottle by the top of the neck, leaving just enough room between your index finger and the bottom of the cap for the lighter to fit. With your free hand, now press down on the lighter’s other end until the cap comes off.

8. Lipstick

See the lighter’s usage guidelines. In all honesty, any substantial object in the shape of a stick will do.

9. Door Frame

To make this one work, you’ll need to slightly tip the bottle on its side: Apply pressure at an angle while aligning the edge of the cap with the lip of the door or empty lock latch; the cap should pop off.

10. Screwdriver

Use the rest of flathead as a lever to lift the cap off by slipping the edge of it under the edge of the lid.

11. Dollar Bill

It’s a little more difficult to believe this trick, but it’s true. A bill can be made sturdy enough to pop off a bottle cap by folding it (or even a piece of paper) numerous times.

12. Tree Branch

You’re in luck if you can locate one with a curve or knob. To remove the cap, simply move the bottle until it catches, then tilt it slowly but firmly until it does.
